Pinnacle N.M.
Mar 4, 1931
The same party - excepting Mr.
Hawkins - returned to the
Pinnacles from Hollister, arriving
at 8:00 A.M.
This trip was taken up the main
canyon of the old Pinnacle area
in company with Ranger Marcott.
He walked to the caves, going to
the upper end of them, then return[ing]
by way of the west canyon wall,
to the camp ground.
Forage conditions were the same
as in the west canyon.
Hawkins says there are:
Gray Fox, Coyotes, Bob-cats, Coons, Squirrels
in the area, as well as the
Black-tailed deer, of which we
saw five does yearling.
They were in good condition,
& close to the camp ground
by the ranger's house.
Birds seen:
Many Buzzards soaring in
pairs around the Pinnacles.
Hundreds of white throated
Swifts along the cliffs. Some
entered the crevices.
Canyon wren, Calip woodpeckers
