that it contained six eggs. They are almost round and rather pinkish in color. They aren't much bigger than those of a hummingbird.
May 15
When I looked into nest XII O at 1PM today, an adult was sitting very tightly to the nest. It didn't flush for several seconds after the observation door was opened. There are 3 newly hatched young & 3 eggs. The young birds appeared to have been out of the egg for only a short period of time (a few hours).

4 fully feathered young birds are in nest XII O now. The white stripe over the eye is quite obvious. I didn't see any sign of the adults.

Ed Cowan found a nest yesterday or the day before from which he took the eggs and set them in the incubator. One egg hatched yesterday (3/9/58) and two more have hatched by 10AM today. Therefore, this nest must have been completed sometime in late February.
