Mayhew 1960 Amphispiza bilineata (Black-throated Sparrow) 1. April 21 37 mi. E. of 29 Palms, San Bernardino Co., Calif. Three young birds that were barely able to fly were seen on a rocky area in the midst of creoste bush scrub. Apparently they were just out of the nest. The parents fluttered about near-by. None of the young birds flew more than 50 feet before returning to the ground and hiding in the vegetation.
