"The freight cars jumped the track on a bridge over the Vilecorte river but remained on the bridge. We were delayed about half past four. Mr. Brown, the assistant RR manager says that Vilecorta is the best station for Vicunyo, that is between tere and Cincoro alto is the best shooting country. Between San Pablo & Trista station we saw on just onea mine. A fresh lava flow ran into the valley at this point and the people erected a temple at this point to stop the lava flow. I can easily describe spalatal columns of adobe some 4-5 feet high, placed in a row on a rock foundation. We reached Checuerpe station at dark & ran very slowly afterdark into Cuyo, where we arrived at 10:30. At the station we loaded his baggage on a mule drawn sleigh car which passed the tracks a few yards from the station & Mr. Butler unloaded the baggage & left the car back.
