L. 29 P. 18.
home to his village will do much to trace him up.
Thur. Mar. 18. Little doing today except packing.
The roads are in bad shape after yesterday's rain.
But we hope to go home to Poma tomorrow.
Going to tea this afternoon with Gordon and
his new wife (married March 3rd).
Johnston just telling me that the plantation boys apparently know everything there is to know about
me - also of my leaving the country. They tried to
get him to give them things I might leave behind
or throw away. One wants my old (worm out) canvas
shoes ; one asked for a shirt (if I happened
to leave one behind) or.
Fri. Mar. 19 - The rain left night. The road
mile dry. We marched down from the Depot
to Poma rather slowly on account of Gordo -
too slow because the storm came up the
valley and drenched us before we could get into
Poma.
Ivan Champain still there but nearly finished.
His report finished ; his map nearly so. Set
out all the small types in hope of getting another
of the new Phascejola (#3420)
Sat. Mar. 20. In traps: Rattus (concolor g.p.),
Melomys musculus but (alas) no more Phascejola.
We go down to Pat Tressley today.
Reached Mareely at 1 p.m. Going to pay off
some or all of the trips on Monday.
