L. 28. P.1. Port Moody, Thurs. Feb. 25. Closed # 27 in a hurry for the mail this p.m. Rand is leaving on the "Stella Polaris" for Java; Brown on the "Macdhu" for Brisbane. Plan to return in the morning to the mountains. Fri. Feb. 26. Stayed one and then day to have last try at jutting carriers. Hemphries, R. M. has undertaken to do what he can, & has given me a letter to Horan (now at Stiki) to help out. Adamson & Speedy in town. Ivan Champion still at Rona. Enlarged Astrolabe map 3-times with pantograph today. Rain yday pm & today since 7 o'clock am. Leaving it morning. Sat. Feb 27. Had tea yesterday with Armit & W^m Lee. He told me somethng of H.O. Forbes who first collected Pygmyps jukes (one of the two species Slack) He came out as a British Museum Collector. But was given a government patrol job which helped him with his collecting while moving about or he did, was also useful to the Government. Left this a m. at 7.15. Rona shot 10. Saw Ivan Champion. Passed between Rona & Sogeri joined the A.R.M. Met Horan & presented a letter from the P.M. Mr Hemphries regarding jutting carriers. Heavy rain began at 2pm Sunday, Feb 28 - A couple of good things in the traps in addition to th common stuff: another 2 Leptomp elegans and and two outbred Malomys and a numbe
