L.27. P.30 Mon. Feb. 22. Moving day. And just luck to get the 7 of Stimmys serendus at last. The mammy formula in 1-2=6 as in Rattus morder. The specimen very good but after I had made the catalogue entry (#3641) I examined the skin from the inside, after the dry had skinned it, and there is no mistake about the formulsted. Set down to Eperis - settled down at Johnson's place. Heavy rain in afternoon. No word yet of the "Royal Endeavour" 4 days overdue. Wed. Feb.24. Heavy ground mist but fair day. Set 250 traps along stream in pastures. Torrential rain in pm. Had traps go out afternoon & reset. Wed. Feb. 25. Big catch of corn-thigs: Green Melmys, 13, Rattus fractin; 7, Rattus morder x 2, R. of cornthrn jumps, 2. Also took 3 small rails, only which I saved for Rand. Thursday, Feb. 25. Another Phascolale murex also 24 rats & mice in traps. Leaving for Moreby at once but will return here tomorrow. Closing letter #27
