To the Block in examining native houses, so it is inprobable that more than six hours of actual travel are involved. The position of this Black River is not in the least in doubt, and the only large river entering the Palmer on the right bank is the Tully (or Wai Mie). Our domptures from the Block to the Tully is: Black R - to our camp by boat (low river) 15 minuts; our camp to overmap Bivouac (low river) 2 1/2 hours; from Bivouac to Tully (flooded river) 1/2 hour. Total a little over 3 hrs. And in view of these facts there exists no possibility of doubt that the names Donaldson and Tully refer to the same river. Having gone over certain parts of the tracks followed by Karies and Champin, I have been able to recognize several features among their topographical photographs to which attention was not drawn in the captions, and knowing the approximate position from which a given picture was made I have been able to insert those photographs with the map. Thus: -
