Note regarding Melmyns: # 2254-6 and 2268 are dark-footed;
# 2263 has white hind feet.
In my own trips live eel came free as a failure and
in the afternoon relieved with canned salmon. A
tig cassowary was shot by Ego-ego one of Pard's boys.
We had some of him fried for supper. Nutris
came in with screaming little bananas to sell for
leaves, most of them hardly worth having. Occasionally
however they dig a ripe plantain or a yam.
May 23 Saturday. The plane leaves for Morisby
this morning at 10 o'clock. Boy still low & rather
delirious. Drops today gave nothing - the salmon
m.g. as bait.
Principal trouble in this place is the lack
of animals. They are simply not here to be
caught.
Yesterday morning Simon, one of Willie's two boys
was sent out. He did not want to go on. From a note
which Haley sent by him the trail head must be
some 8 miles this side of the Blackt River.
A new find made by Gororo who was collecting "under
dogs material" - the tiny name Lorentziny's the type
of which is the only specimen known. A raw (not
fixed). Peculiarities are the long, very narrow ears,
largish upper lips (like Paralydymys), large head,
very dry vibrissae, dry tail, slender hind feet,
