latter river. Messrs M.J. Healy and A. Willis took a series of bearings from a number of stations in the catchment basin of the Palmer and at our camp at "Black Puir Camp". My first move was to plot in those bearings over Karnus's map and change the position of several features which were clearly out of their true places. The corrected plan agreed well with the rough sketches earlier prepared after completion of the aerial reconnaissance work. Incidentally, Mr Claude Champin accompanied us on some other flights and pointed out various rivers and mountains until our base was left behind. On returning to Dunedin I met Mr Les Austin, who was so kind as to go into the matter very thoroughly with me. I also plotted the bearing published by Macgregor, and being reasonably sure that I recognised the position of the two stations from which his bearings were taken.
