1992 Walter D. Koenig 2 Melanerpes formicivorus Gazebo HNHR (8 March) Connie has just figured out that both $1911 & $1930 were at CV#2. However, $1911 was chasing $1930, who's back here now. So it looks like $1911 (only) has moved to CV#2 for now. 4 April 1850. It's too dark to be confident of numbers, but there are definitely stores remaining here; a wild guess based on little hard evidence would be no more than 500. 23 April 1030. Checked last year's nest hole on a bark after clearing out a Starling nest in the high knothole: 3 fresh eggs, marked (by me) #1-3! 19 May Injected the $ here this morning after Stanback caught her (plus one of the 6 helpers) roosting together. 21 May 640. Set up for the recapture, finally. 730. Got her! Bled at 736; wt: 75.4 gm. Checked nest: 4 babies. 1 June 1100. Banded the 4 babies; the 2 Lewis' Wapters here look fine. 1 July 1400. Group is out of stores; it's likely they've run out recently, though, based on the shells that are left. 30 August 1145. No acorns; nobody in any holes here (in the main granary area, at any rate).
