1991 WalteD Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Gazebo HNHR 27 January *Group Update* 81644. Last seen 21 July, gone by 2 October → DA. 27 Aug ± 1 month. 11 May 1415. Set up an ambusher, put in a parasite board, and cleared out a Starling nest from the knothole (4 babies). 14 May 1415. Set up to try and nab the 9NOBA. 1600. The ambusher screwed up, but she (and 9653 to boot) were nice enough to stay put and let me catch them. 9653 I immediately stuffed back into the hole; the 9NOBA is now 91911. Oh! I couldn't find the parasite board, so I presume they removed it! *Group Update* 991415 & 1473. Here 1 Feb, Moved to Westgate ~ 1 April ± 2 wks 27 May 1130. Banded the 5 babies here, #1927-1931. Just as I got to The top of the vope to return them to the hole I saw the tail of a gopher snake disappearing into the next hole! Wow! Talk about timing - an hour later and they would have been snake food; 1 min. earlier or later and I would have missed the snake, most likely stuffing the babies back into their hole directly into the jaws of the snake as I wished them "live long and prosper". I removed the snake, who was good size but not huge, and took him over to Blomone (Starling nest, if I can find one). 32 July 8 March Update → 91911. LS 8 Oct 91, gone by 6 March → DA. 25 Dec ± 2 mo 91928. Same. NB! At CV#2!
