1991 Walter D. Koenig Melanerpes fomiceivorus 1500 4 January 155. Counted stores: Main tree: 2055 } 2423 2° tree: 368 } Doing quite well here, although the granary is not exactly overflooding with acorns. I'd put capacity at at least 3000. 9 April 1650. Bird in hole in granary. 13 April 930. 8' Res/DBlue #4901 seen here in passing. 7 May Monné reports 4 eggs today; was empty, I believe on 2 May, 1530. Babies, which just hatched a couple days ago, are dead! Danny pulled them out - they've been dead for a little while, but it's not obvious what their problem was. There are still some stored acorns here, so food shouldn't have been a problem. 2 June 1440. Bird in hole again! 4 fresh eggs. 10 June 815. Chuked hole: 3 eggs, incubated and close to hatching. Wonder what happened to the 4th? Still some stores in the granary. 27 June 1045. Set up to catch the ♀ for DLW. Weather is warm but breezy and overcast. Very odd for late June. 145. Got her! Bled at 1252. 28 June Danny did a watch today. 29 June 1220. Set up for the recapture. 1250. Got her'. Weather was quite overcast and relatively cool for the entire 2 days The ♀ was marked here. 4 July 1430, Banded & bled the 2 babies here, which are quite fat. 31 December 1515. Counted stores: Main tree: 635 } 888. Not too bad. 2° tree: 253 } HNHR
