1991 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Plague HNHR 19 May 915. lots of chasing, quarricking, etc. here. Watching. ①♂La/DB #1757 here. There are at least 5-6 birds here; 3-4 in central area alone. ②♀Rei/Yel-Da #973 here. 933. 3 birds together: 9973 + 2♂8. Mounting, etc. ③♂(?)/DB/M (could be 9973) → ⑤♀Ot/Yel-Da#973. 948. ♂DB-wN(N)/or? (N) band certain. Some serious grappling here, but I have no idea who's being chased. 955. Def. a♂M/DB and a♂DB-wN(N) 1000. ♂DB-wN(N)/LP #1398 → chased off, however ♂DB-wN(N)/Yel-Or ♂Rei/M or?? #1665? ♂NOBA stealing an acorn. 31578 (DB-wN(N)/Yel-Or #1398) here for sure. 1045. Not sure at all what's up here. ♂1757 plus (I think) 1 other♂ are solid here with 9973. Lots of other♂8, including ♂1665 (a Plague bird recently going to Chonge), ♂1398 (a Buckeye baby), and others. Unclear who's chasing and who's being chased, except for ♂1757 who's here for good I should think. 1100. ♂or/DB-wN(N) #1729. (Momie). Put net up to try and catch some birds. (Only bird eventually caught was ♂1398 from Buckeye.) 20 May Didn't watch but everything seemed very quite here all day, strangely enough. 21 May 1330. Bird in old nest hole: 4 fresh eggs! They didn't waste any time here!
