Melanerpes fomicivorus
Black Oak
HNHR
17 June
1450. Went up to get things set up at the nest to catch
the ♂ only to find 1 dead nestling in the nest!. Baby
was DBlue; wt: 46.0gm; WL: 28mm. Had been dead not
too long. The bad weather seems to have had an effect
after all at least at places like this with no stores.
19 June
1950. 3 birds roosted in the poison oak tree hole.
11 September No sign of a nest here; birds are storing already (new
acorns in the granary).
16 October
600. Ambushed the high hole ('92 nest hole) in the central
area, nabbing the ♀ 1190 and the ♂ NOBA. These are apparently
the only 2 birds left here.
