Counted stores: Central area: 1207) Side area-1st tree: 1795 2nd tree: 710) The 1st tree in the side area is rapidly becoming a major storage facility here, with acorns all in and around the bark (a la Al). These birds are doing pretty well; I'd put capacity at no more than 4500. 27 January *Group Update* 81632. Returned! First seen 20 Jan '91, not here 6 Dec '90 → 28 Dec ± 3 wks j1800, 1801, → NSAB. 81213? Last seen 28 May, gone by 29 Sept. → DA 28 July ± 2mo ♀18095 2 April 1100. Fair number of stores left here. 12 May 1830. Came up early and found the nest here, which is a new hole in the Black Oak down the hill where they used to roost once upon a time. 13 May 945. Opened the hole: 4 babies ~7 do. Put in a parasite board. 1935. Watched roosting here tonight: 1 bird: ♂ Blk/or-wh #426. [illegible] 21 May 1530. Set up to try and nab the helpers I don't have blood from. 1620. ♀1190 fed. 1645. ♂426, ♂744 both fed. 1745. Giving up for now. Not a great day for this, it would seem. 22 May 1230. Ready to go again. 1400. Mistakenly got the ♀(1110). I give up. This is not worth it.
