21 May 1240. Watching. Flushed a ♂ from the nest hole. (So,
unlike last year, there is a ♂ here!)
♀ Or-LG/M
♀ Or-La/or . came almost immediately.
1400. ♀ still in The hole.
1445. Giving up. ♂ still a mystery.
♀ is ♂1998 - same ♀ as last year!!
24 May 1145. Back to try for the ♂. ♀ in the hole.
1330. Leaving. ♀ still in hole, waiting for the ♂, as have I
for the past 1¾ hrs.
1 June 1520. Babies are in here! Checked the nest: 2 babies & 1 unhat-
ched but developed egg. Babies not weighed; maybe 5 do?
[est. LED = 16 May]
11 June 940. Babies are screaming away! Set an ambush and
an now going to try for the ♂ here.
1035. Both birds finally fed! ♂ is ♂ (Blk-BPk(N))
something.
1042. I take it back: ♂ is ♂ (Blue / Blk-BPk(N))
. Should
be enough for an ID (Note Jim's ID here of ♂ or or Mv/M)
Bands look pretty fresh.
1200. Leaving. These are certainly the only 2 birds here.
1230. He's ♂1608 - a 1988 nesting from 1500 who was
the ♂ here in 1990, and very possibly (one must guess)
last year as well.
17 June 1045. Set up for the ♀ for DLW.
1245. I give up. Going to band the babies.
1305. Turns out to be only 1.
13 September 1430! 2 babies, ~23 do, in the low hole! Amazing. Not banded
(I didn't have blood stuff); I'll have to return ASAP.
Est. LED = 11 August. A strange year indeed!
