(8 May)
1055. ① 8° or ① 385 down along path in tree.
1205. I give up. Can't find anything, really. What
is going on here?
12 May
1115. After a couple more roost watches I came up here this
morning and finally found the nest - in a Valley Oak way
off in the forest down below (~30m) The old SH "C" nest
tree. Returning with saws (after pulling off the poison oak-
vines growing all over the tree) I opened it to find
4 babies ~5 do. Weights were: 21.1, 20.4, 19.3, and
5.5 gm (latter presumably on the way out).
18 May
1520. Set up an ambush here. Only 3 babies left.
19 May
1350. Set up to catch the ♀.
1445. Nobody feeding! Giving up for now.
23 May
1950. Watched roosting tonight: ① 426 roosted in nest.
24 May
640. Set up to get the ♀.
750. Nothing! Going to have to give up entirely, it would
appear, though maybe I can try again later in the morning.
1043. Trying again.
1123. Quitting. This clearly isn't going to work. No point
risking the babies.
1 June
1500. Banded & bled the 3 babies; the additional Lewis'
looks fine.
30 August
