Melanerpes formicivorus

(22 May) ① a baby from the nest we presumably missed from (last
summer, or ② a random bird roosting in the nest who
doesn't even belong in the group. Note that he had tail
spots (1st year?) but a very long bill (35mm - adult?); also note that no one from Amy on down the line has
seen a &NOBA here since we caught those babies last
July. Hence my inclination is for the latter, but
perhaps we'll get additional information as time goes
on (like whether we ever see him again or not after
this).
10 June 800. None in any holes here. Also no one at S.H."B".
Still plenty of stored acorns here.
24 June 1440. 2 Galgries seen in passing.

2 January 1545. Counted stores: Main tree: 444? 454.
20 tree: 10
Not very much here; barely enough to squeak by, I'd
say.

nothing. One bird did karrit in the lower storage area a bit.
