(21 May)
For transcription of today's watch, see back. Note that,
even though 91473 presumably tossed the earlier 2 eggs,
she certainly could have tossed the egg laid by 91415
today and didn't. More restraint!
22 May 830. Watched again this morning; nothing notable except
that ① both 99 were inside the hole and ② 88 were not
following 91415 around the way they had been up to a day or
two ago. I climbed at 810 and there were, as expected, 4
eggs, including the 2 from yesterday. See compilation
on back.
23 May Watched and then climbed at 815: still 4 eggs - nobody laid
today (!)
24 May 850. In contrast, there are 2 new eggs today - up to 6!
25 May 800. Watched for a while, but both 99 were going in (in fact,
all 4 were trading off quite regularly), never for an extended
period, suggesting anything or nothing, as the case may be.
Either, one, or neither could have laid another egg.
900. And the answer is: neither. Still 6 eggs. Could they finally
be done?
26 May 1600. Yes: didn't watch this morning but still 6 eggs.
5 June 1550. Checked nest: eggshells all over (I'm fairly confident that
all 6 eggs hatched) but only 2 babies! Serious brood
reduction here. Babies are at least 2 days old, I'd guess.
Parasite board put in just in case.
8 June Morné watched tonight and got 91582 roosting in the nest.
11 June Morné watched tonight and apparently nobody roosted!
Hope the nest didn't fail!!
