Set out a feeder in the (uphill!) nest tree here; this is a supplemented group. 16 April 1700. Bird in last year’s nest hole: empty. Egg-tossing maybe? Have set an ambush for Mark & will watch tonight. 22 April 625. Watching from blind, Video set at ‘90 nest hole. No eggs here yet but there was lots of activity in this hole yesterday and they are clearly close, if not already egg-tossing. 800. No activity here except for when a Starling came and briefly checked out the hole and was summarily chased off by at least 1 Woodpecker. Otherwise dead, here and, as far as I could tell, at the other likely holes as well. Not yet, I guess! 23 April 615. Set up and watching again; VCR running.
