Yellow-breasted Chat - 6 (N. Wood Pewee - 3 Black-headed Grosbeak - 3 Say's Phoebe - 1 H.O. Blue Grosbeak - 3 N. Rough-winged Swallow - 10 Jaybird Bunting - 5 Bare Throated - 1 Indigo (a Indigo Jay) - 1 Black-billed Magpie - 15 Song Sparrow - 6 Black-capped Chickadee - 3 House Finch - 12 Benick's Wren - 4 Lesser Goldfinch - 5 House Wren - 8 American Goldfinch - 3 American Robin - 45 On the morning of June 19, I revisited the River Walk from 05:45 to 07:45, mostly on the west end. The morning was clear, light breeze from E., Temp about 60°F. Birds not found yesterday were American Kestrel & Spotted Towhee; more conspicuous were the woodpeckers, Black-capped Chickadees, and Black-headed Grosbeaks. Others were Green-backed Heron, Killdeer & Virginia Rail. Two Lesser Goldfinches were seen. Beaver Creek Wildlife Management Area 10 miles NE Canyon City Fremont Co., Colorado. Elevation 6100 ft. June 19-23 After leaving the River Walk, I drove to BLM office on the west edge of Canyon City. After stating my interest, I was directed to Paul Trentych and Erik Brekke.
