Gunnison, Gunnison Co., Colorado. Elevation [illegible] ft. June 18 This day was mainly a scouting day en route to Canon City, Colorado. Over night, with a couple stops for maps, I travelled from the Claw Ranch back to Jensen, Utah, then west on U.S. Highway 40 to Dinosaur, Colorado, where I turned south on Colorado State Highway 64, passing through Rangely (where I saw a person standing on the road edge a few miles past Rangely) to pick up State Highway 13 south to Interstate Highway 70 at Rifle, then proceeding west to Grand Junction, then southeast on US 50 to Montrose and just beyond. Then (at dawn) I turned N. on State Highway 347 for a brief look at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument (where among many birds I saw two active nests of Peregrines). Once back to Highway 50, I turned east, passing through Cortez and Cimarron to Never
