Chew Ranch adjacent to Quarrel location of Divisional National Forest-
mounts, Uinta County, Utah. Elevation 5000 ft.
June 11-17 in a grassy wood planted in an irrigated field. This nest was
(Crith) visited by two males. All three were netted by late afternoon.
(Fra S.A.) Many of today's captures were not readily vocal,
and were kept alive for recording & specimen preparation on
June 17. I took down the BLM land note at dusk.
The weather June 16 was warm, a carbon copy of yesterday's;
lacking only the close-passing late afternoon thundercloud: Temps
45-80°F, light NE winds, low humidity; very few clouds
all day.
I stayed in camp all day June 17, inside the tent
most of the day. I spent a little time recording goldfinches,
looking at mist notes from my camp (closing up both at 09:30)
and emerging periodically to stretch my limbs. Inside the
tent I put up goldfinches captured on BLM land yesterday &
write up notes for this field site. The weather observations
made today were less detailed: it was mostly clear, temps,
range 50-85°F, low humidity, winds light. I departed from
camp after bathing in the creek below and thinking cars. Clear,
leaving at 20:30.
