Journal Chew Ranch, adjacent to Quarry Section Division National Monu- ment, Uinta Co., Utah. Elevation 5000 ft. June 11-17 area and continued walking up close to the S. into BLM P-T (Cort) dominited land. The walk was curtailed owing to weather. I spent the afternoon and early evening huddled against the foul weather in my tent. Weather June 14: dawn was cloudy, humid, 60°F., with light NW breeze. Skies cleared to partly cloudy from 0P:30-11:30, then became solidly cloudy again. From 13:30-14:45, winds were intermittently extremely high, associated & lightning & thunder but little precipitation. At 14:10, these winds pulled up off the ground three corners of my tent (pulling the stakes from the ground) with my equipment and me inside, pivoting the tent 145-145° degrees clockwise and dragging it while they 15 feet & the creek! The tent & contents suffered only minor injury. Skies cleared to partly cloudy at 17:15. After 18:15 it was mostly clear, with winds edging entirely around sunset. Temp 60° at sunrise, rising to 80°F around 11:45, falling to about 65°F during thunder showers. Crude maps of the area: GREEN RIVER NPS GREEN R.
