Journal 1992 Skeleton Canyon, Balcones Wash, Colorado National Forest 17 miles S of Rodeo, Hidalgo Co., New Mexico. July 7 The weather July 7 was quite pleasant. Dawn was still & clear. A slight NE breeze began around 10:00, switching to NW at noon. There were scattered clouds in the afternoon. Temperatures ranged from 65- 90-85°F. Species list: Amphibians: none (no anuran larvae in tirejars) Reptiles: Loggerhead Turtles Striped Rattlesnake Greater Earless Lizard Clerk's Spiny Lizard Lesser Earless Lizard Cnemidophorus sp. Iberian Lizard Pituophis Bunch Grass Lizard Birds: Turkey Vulture - 20 Green Woodpecker - 18 Cooper's Hawk - 1 Gila Woodpecker - 1 Four-tailed Hawk - pr. ad. Ladder-backed Woodpecker - 2 Red-tailed Hawk - 2 ad, 1 imm, 1 juv. N. Barklea Typhlocephalus - 1 Golden Eagle - 1 ad W. Wood-Pewee - 8 Snail's Zunicella - 2 Dusky-capped Flycatcher - 20 Mourning Dove - only 1!
