TRACET, J.A. 1992 Journal Buntemery Ranch, 2 miles E of Armstrong Kennedy Cr., Texas. Elevation 2500 feet. April 27th the loud cry of what I thought was some species of cat. The sound they 2 were unfamiliar, and I do have some familiarity with vocalizations (coos) Bobcats & mountain lions. Of course, by the time I could poke my head out the tent, there was nothing within range of my eastern beam. On April 30, the day's successes were mostly extra ones. A wood mouse nets again in late morning, after having shot a pair of silent gopherhills feeding at thistles. But one afternoon was the first substantial bird-mist net success at this field site: I caught six in the space of 98 minutes. The other excitement of a mist net today was driving away a cow trying to eat my net(!), this at too casual water/ spars mequite bosque site. This pond dried up completely in early afternoon. Morning April 30 began very humid, fog & sunrise, and break-up ing off until 08:30 High clouds disappeared 09:45. No wind until 10:30, then only light & variable, NE, E, etc. NW, 0-5 mpa. Clouds reappeared 14:00 from E, covering about 50% of sky, but no real torrent of rain. Wind picked up about 15:45, 5-15 mph at E. Temperature range 70° -90°F.
