Sacramento 1992 Journal Day Canyon, San Gabriel Mountains near Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino Co., California. Elevation 2800 ft. April 7 mammals: [illegible] [illegible] (Coix) [illegible] sp. April 23 I left Sacramento just before 06:00 on my way to Texas for field work & to attend a wedding in Houston early next month, but with the plan to visit Day Canyon en route. I arrived at Day Canyon via California Hwy 99 to I-5, to I-210, to I-10, exit at Haven Avenue to return a Batescope major alcoholic specimen to findes farnies, than took Highland Avenue east, turned N on Etiwanda and followed the assigned gravel roads to the locked gate about 1/2 miles from the canyon. The visit as described April 7. I visited the area from 13:30 to 17:30. More gopher snakes were seen again today. Weather April 23 was very fine. Temperature 70-75°, 5-10 mph W. Wind, no clouds, light snow.
