Arizona July 26 Many years ago (in the 1970's) I read of a large, undisturbed Cottonwood-willow bosque on the Salt River NE of Phoenix, Arizona. The area was called Blue Point Cottonwoods. I arrived at Blue Point on the Salt River from Big Thornys at 18:45, having N5T taken State Hwy 62 to Interstate 10, to University Avenue, to the Buse Highway. There is a U.S. Forest Service complex there, which I called. An USFS employee had heard of the peace, and pointed to the scattered, roofless surge to the N. He said a fire had destroyed the woodland, and two dead trees were all that remained. He knew of no other substantial reju- vien woodland nearby. He suggested looking at Sycamore Creek or further up Highway 87 toward Payson. As it was fast getting dark, I stopped for a couple hours before heading E. via Interstate 10. 60.
