Elevation ft. July 26 I arrived here from Sacramento by a less-than-direct route: I travelled Interstate 80 to Berkeley to drop some stuff off at my office, arriving at Berkeley about midnight. From UCB, I travelled State Hwy 13 to Interstate 595 to Interstate 5, to Inter- state 210, to Interstate 10 to State Hwy 62. In Yucca Valley I turned NW on Desperation Road. I looked for the UC Desert Reserve near Bormentown, but I couldn't find it. At least 2 early-rising village residents took a load off it. I retreated to Yucca Valley and south on Hwy 62 to the town of Morongo
