Journal July 3-6 complete skeletons, all were green-backed avian. (cont) Weather July 6 was clear and calm almost all day, with occ. variable breezes. Temperature ranged from 65° - 95°F (felt hotter with little air movement). Only exceptions were 2 thunderstorms which passed over. These were associated w/ very high NE winds (15-35 mph), tossing large branches wildly at 17:30 and 21:45; the latter accompanied by a few large drops of rain. Species List Simon Canyon: Amphibians: none Reptiles: Sceloporus undulatus Cnemidophorus inornatus Thamnophis sp - this animal keyed out as a Checkered garter snake, T. marcianus, but well out of range. Birds: Canada Goose - H.O. 7/5 N (Red Sk) Wicker Mallard W Wood Peewee Turkey Vulture Car-throated Flycatcher Red-tailed Hawk Chase's Kingbird American Kestrel Velvet-green Swallow Kleeder - H.O. 7/4 N. Rough-winged Swallows Whining Dove Cliff Swallows Greater Horned Owl - netix found 7/4 Scrub Jay. Common Nighthawk Pinyon Jay Poorwill Black-billed Magpie - H.O. 7/5 White-throated Swift Common Raven Black-chinned Hummingbird Black-capped Chickadee Downy Woodpecker - H.O. 7/5 Plain Titmouse
