Truax, John 1991 Journal Dorsette Ranch, 3/4 mile downstream of confluence of Apollos & Mora Rivers, Mora Co., New Mexico Elevation 6800 ft. June 26-27 mammals: Ovis sp. (Cait) Castor Ovis sp. - track Bison track Equithyion - fur & guilfs Subatra June 30 While travelling last night I early this morning my car started making a worrisome noise at the rear front end. I slipped into I-25 to I-40 Galup, New Mexico, where I could get local help from known folks. Al Charles suggested getting my Subaru worked on at Pueblo Chevrolet, and Al Schneider kindly consented to putting me up while my car is in the shop. After dropping the car off, Al Schneider took me down to Junii to see what hikes we could find at our former home. Our visit was a brief one, 10:45 to 15:30. We visited the Canyon Glen Blackrock Dam, scoped Blackrock Lake, walked the west end of Blackrock Bosque, briefly visited the west end of Native Lake #2, and scoped Native Lakes #3 & 4, and Native Division Reservoir. We then returned to Gallup via State Highway 602 (old Highway 52), retracing our earlier route to the reservation. Weather today was warm, 80-85°F, cloudless, with light westerly breezes, increasing to 5-15 mph westerly winds after 14:30.
