Tucson, az. 1991 Journal Dorritte Ranch 3/4 miles N of Watrous, Mora Co., New Mexico. Elevation 6850 ft. June 25 Weather today at the ranch was very windy, blowing SSE (cold) 15-25 mph. Thunder clouds developed over the Sangre de Cristo Range to the west by noon and drifted over this way by 15:30. Showers started at 18:05, and it rained fairly hard between 18:15 and 18:25. The wind near the thunderstorms was very high. One large old cottonwood by the river was uprooted. Another, near my tent in a shelter belt, lost a large limb. Owing to cloud cover and higher elevation, it was cooler today than yesterday, with a maximum of about 80°F. Species List: Trees: Cupressus sp. Birds: Great Blue Heron N.
