TROCHET, J. 1990 Brown-crested Flycatcher Myiarchus tyrannulus Burns Ranch, ½ mile SSE Red Springs, Lincoln Co., Nevada, Elevation, 3575 feet. August 11 Having already pulled a couple ash-throated flycatchers out of my notes here, and many others before elsewhere, I didn't immediately recognize this bird as different as I approached the net. Up close, the larger size and much darker bill were apparent. I checked the tail pattern and breast color against my National Geographic Field Guide to North American Birds, and conclude that it is this species. When I did have time, I took measurements using a millimeter rule. My measurements: bill length - 19.1 mm bill height 8.0 mm bill width 9.7 mm wing chord 112 mm tail 98 mm
