Burns Ranch 1/3 mile SSW of Red Springs Lincoln Co. Nevada
Elevation 3575 ft.
August 11 away, giving 0-5 mph S. winds from 06:00 to 07:00. N. winds (East) at 5 mph flow from 10:30 to 13:00, the intermittent gusty winds were thunderstorms.
August 12 I ran my nets all day. I moved my camp net at 18:00 to a sunflower/Russian plume field W. of the stream about 1/2 mile S. of Camp. It was a good move. I netted no birds of any species from 05:50 to 17:15. I caught 5 lesser goldfinches and a W. kingbird in the new locality from 18:00 to 19:15. Three lesser goldfinches were made up as complete skeletons because I ran out of light.
Weather: no hard shadows all day, though overcast was thin from 11:30 to 14:45, when patches of blue sky were over the mountains to the W. Temp 70°-90°F. Dusty winds again just at dawn, then still until 09:15. Then began 2-5 mph S. breezes lasting all day, until abruptly switched to gusty 15-35 mph N. winds, with the N. sky virtually black, at 18:38. Thunderstorms fell all around. Now raining lightly here at military 20:15. Lots of job activity overhead today, cf. very quiet yesterday.
August 13 I worked my nets from 05:40 - 12:10, when I pulled my Judes birds back to Camp because of the heat. I caught seven goldfinches today to reach my desired minimum of 20. I will be leaving on tonight.
The weather today was clear - cooler in am, hotter in the p.m. Temp 65°F-105°F. After a still dawn, winds were
