August 1 I ran nets for a few hours (05:20 - 10:00) this morning, and netted one species not previously detected - warbling vireo. I'm now all packed up and ready to leave my snail wells & poles the last thing put away. It's now 11:10, and I'm ready to head home for daughter Renee's fifth day party.

Meadow Valley Wash from 3/4 mile S. of Elgin to Caliente, Lincoln Co., Nevada. Elevation 4400 ft.
August 7 I left Sacramento last night and drove to my sample camp 74 miles S. of Elgin via Interstate 80, Alternate U.S. Highway 50, U.S. Highway 50, U.S. Highway 93, and Nevada State Highway 317. This morning I found that I had chosen a stretch of the wash with an intact riparian vegetation, but apparently no surface water. There were several large cottonwoods and some others of smaller stature, including saplings whose leaves were already turning yellow. The other common "tree" species is desert willow. The floodplain had a fairly thick growth of a nightshade(?) and saltbush. There are scattered prickly pear and
