TROCHET, J. 34 Journal 1990 Willamette Valley from Portland to Salem, Oregon July 23. Portland some of the places I had been going in Corvallis, (can't) but as one was home. I tried at midday a couple parks along the river in Portland, but I found no deer goldfinches & too many people. At 14:15 I headed for Salem. Then I sought my study organism at Cascade Gateway Park (5:10-6:20) and Thiels-Benn Island Park (6:45-8:10); no deer goldfinches at either place, though habitats certainly looked reasonable. I then left for Eugene, arriving at 19:30. I called Dirk [?] Martha de Burekert, the latter a friend from four days. They put me up for tonight. The weather today was continuously cloudy, with light freeses, temperature 60-65°F. Species list: Ruparia: W.
