August 24 I arrived here at 18:00 having driven most of the night and all of the day from south-central Texas. From the lake's NE corner, I sat and wrote yesterday's notes, having first ascertained that the Bosque's SW corner, with lots of sun-farmers, would be a great place to see birds in the morning. I made a quick tour through the NW corner of the Bosque and swept the lake from the NE shore and from the SW shore. The lake level is down about 20-25' from the spillway. Dark at 20:30.
Weather: temp about 75°F, W. winds 10-15 mph, few scattered smallish thunderclouds.
