1990 Walther D Koenig Melanerpes famicivorus Mill HNHE 21 May 1600. Not much time, but going for the ♂ NOBA or ♀ 1261 (Dried blood only). 1630. Will be back bientit. 1745. Back for more 1830. ♂ NOBA. Looking for the ♀. 1850. ♀ 1261 fed - didn't go in!! 1910. Caught The ♀ - Then disaster - 2 of the 4 6abies hung onto her when I pulled her out, promptly fell on the ground and died. Christ. One was a nunt, The other a nice fat one. I took tissue samples (# ) at least. With luck I processed the ♀ and got out of there in time for the ♂ to roost normally.... 22 May 1000. Well, I guess not. Came up here to find the remaining 2 Gabies alive but cold and weak. I warmed them up, bled them, and returned them, but it looks like I screwed those guys up here a bit too much, too soon. Suggested to Mark That he swap these 2 with 4 babies from the aviary (who are ~14 do). Will see.... 25 May 1330. Transplants from the aviary look fine! Set up to see if I can get The ♂. 1530. ♂ fed but didn't go in. Will go for a night ambush. 26 May 500. Night ambush (alterally morning) went fine: ♂ is now ♂(832). I plugged him back up in the nest for 10+min when I was done, so hopefully they won't freak out more than they already have here. 18 June *Group lepdate*
