1989 1990 Walter D Koening Melanerpes formicivorus Change HNHR 28 May 1300. Set up, trying to catch ♂NOBA helper. 1315. ♂ LB / ♀ #1607. 1319. In tree: ♀ 1607 and (I'm pretty sure) an ub♀! 1320. At nest: ♂ BIK-Red/M #1110. 1323. Without a doubt there is a ♀NOBA here. 1348. ♀ M/or. #1606. 1410. Got one - a ♂. I think there's a ♀ too, so I'll leave things up and go for her tomorrow. ♂ is now #1739. 29 May 1550. Here for that ♀NOBA, who I'm pretty sure is here. 1750. After 2 hrs I've seen ♂1110, ♀♀(1606±1607), and the bird I banded yesterday, ♂1739 (who fed several times). No sign of ♂1265 nor of the NOBA♀ I thought I saw yesterday. I guess I have to assume she doesn't exist, and that the bird I saw yesterday was a ♂ (later caught and turned into ♂1739). 1990 8 January 1000. Counted stores: 498. Granary is not particularly full, but I doubt they have a capacity over 1000, as many of the major limbs here are on the ground. 14 April 1430. In blind watching. Stores are depleted or very nearly so. 1515. A bird was calling from down The hill a few minutes ago, but that's about it. 26 April 1615. 3 birds here in the granary, including ♂ LB/Red ??? This would seem to be an excellent time to come census Tomorrow. 27 April 1545. Watching from blind. 1615 ♂♂ or /M (excellent look). This is ♂1665 from Plaque! This means that the bird I saw
