1200. Counted stores: 3842. The granary is pretty full; I'd
put capacity at 4500. My count here is probably not as
good as some, but I think I'm reasonably close. (If anything,
I may have double-counted one limb with ~250 acorns or so).
31 March. 145. Lots of stores left here.
18 April
900. Bird flushed from a new hole in the Hastings Valley Oak roost
tree.
950. Just since the last time I was here (31 March or maybe even
12 April) the limb with last year's nest hole has fallen. Rats.
19 April
1315. Opened the new hole, where once again a bird was
ensconced. However, no eggs! The hole is, in fact, not
quite finished, but they're obviously working on it.
26 April
1455. Bird in the new hole: checked it: very close to ready but
still empty.
29 April
1340. None in the new hole.
1 May
1430. Bird in the new hole. Checked it: still empty, but ready to go.
4 May
1820. 3 eggs!
13 May
750. 4 eggs, incubated. Should hatch on or about 15-16 May.
29 May
1605. Set up to catch either ♀1078 or ♂1085.
1905. Light is awful. Leaving.
31 May
1430. Trying again.
1620. 3LB-won/cb #1673 fed.
1900. Leaving. What is going on here?!!
1 June
1405. And again.
1500. Got ♀1078!
1530. Plenty of stored acorns remaining here. Bye-bye.
2 June
920. Back for ♂1085.
