Melanerpes formicivorus

6 July
1000. 4 birds here; I seen as ♀ R-W(N)/or presumably ♀ 1378.

11 January
1115. Counted stores: Hastings VO: 821
Hast. Fallen tree: 1202
Hast Lower Root Tree: 434
Lamb. Fallen Tree: 0
There's no sign that these birds are using the Lambert Fallen Tree
anymore; one large limb fell off it and most of it is just too close
to the ground, I guess. In any case, without it, I'd put
capacity at about 3000.
2 April
1025. No sign of birds, but lots of stores still here.
1034. Saw a bird over by The New Trash area (in Schwarznegger
vicinity): 8 LP/R #1491.
25 April
1010. None in any holes. Up just beyond the storage area is 8 m) #1491
(probably) again.
29 April
1700. Several birds flushed from here down toward the fence line
(in direction of Big Tree).
3 May
1245. None in any of the known holes.
15 May
1445. Still no sign of anyone in any holes.
23 May
Flushed birds from here, but still couldn't find any sign of
a nest.
2 June
1500. Stores are here, but still no sign of a nest.
23 June
1500. 3 birds in lower VO granary, where Skip has seen birds in holes.
I checked them, however, and all are connected and in varying
degrees of decay; all in all, not good candidates for nest. So
What's going on here?
