Weather, Fair Evelyn Oregon My first day in camp Came out in the forenoon just before dinner In the afternoon went out and set some traps and shot a grace that I heard drum Traveled four miles to eat In the evening went out with Bailey & shot two skunkes. MAY, 1896. FRI. 29. Ther. Weather, Fine most of day rainy in early morning. Not much of act went down in meadows to see a muskrat kingfisher snips, 1 mecon phalange SAT. 30. Ther. Weather, Fine - Left Evelyn about 8 o'clock Reached Lagrange 2.30 saw some burlows on the way, and me rambled through camped at night just about a place called Derry a lumbering town on the Railroad. T. SUN. 31. Ther. Weather, Fine Trinity Sunday. Left camp about 7.30 and travelled until noon to find a good camping place Saw Pheasants & Zephireus, Sealing arctic etc. numerous Sperm jubiles & 2 species of Chepunks Found signs of Bear near our camp and were told that one had been seen the day before. Saw a coyote
