Drove up to Santa Cruz on the rd to JazĂș- no habitat, save at a small rocky river with very steep sides. Returned to town & met up w/ Juan Yoe who took us on a tour of the TICA grounds, then lunch at the Rest. Nueva Hong Kong. By now am sure I have tourista & on the drive to San Jose am quite nauseous. We drove out of town thru Heredia on the Vlean Poas rd. up to Vera Blanca, a Gardner locality. This area is pastureland with intermingled copses & we may have found habitat but I was feeling pretty bad. Back to town thru Aljuela (a much better road) & a room at the Tala. To bed miserable at 9. 21 Aug. San Jose up at 7 & feeling slightly better but still with runs. Start packing & go to Pan Am to get on tomorrow's flight home. I got queasy so came back & packed & took it easy while Ray did all the town work. Export permit OK, but he had some tense moments trying to get to the University to drop off one of each
