to get room, but the Sun was full - a tour group.
Grabbed some Equiva (which has replaced Coke as our drink) then back & up net at dark. Caught 17 bats by 8, all looking to be Carollica from tunnel. Unfortunately the site was clear w/ early & moon - too light, little activity and no diversity. Tucked it in & back to San Isidro. Found a nice hotel in town ($50+) - the only one w/ parking! - the "Clirripo". It is on the square beside the cathedral - don't know how we missed this the 1st time. To bed day 1.

San Isidro, Prov. San Jose' to Villa Neilly,

Finally got moving by noon. Lunch in restaurant in hotel then out to our site & processed bats. Finally got them done (some odd "carollia" in there). Then down S to Villa Neilly, getting there at dark (time ~ 3-4 hrs). The road winds thru more of this nasty grazing land, but where it hits the Barranca of the Terraba River, just before Palomares there is some nice habitat - gallery forest, etc. The river is large. After Palomares, the road follows the rolling coastal plain & looks much like Pacific
