D. Straney 1978 122. 10 Aug (cont'd) A restaurant (Toron) just S of this. Drove Turn this "Nelle de la General" S- very cut over & in grazing (alt ~ 700m). Finally found a nice stretch of habitat 17+ km S San Isidro. where a dirt road takes off to L. went up this to the Finca "Tienda Santo" & got permission to collect. Very friendly. The administrator told us to look in the "Canal del Rio" & so we looked under the Pan Am & the culvert had many bats. It rained so we processed Sternura. Set up ~ 4pm & we stretched an 18' net over one end of the culvert & Ray screened & Renee roods from the other. Got 38 Carollia (2sp?) & 4 Glossopaga. Tired, went back to Hotel La Sur & got a nice room ($17!) & meal at Toron. Processed bats till 11:30 & read to sleep. 11 Aug. San Isidro, Prov. San Jose' Up late, lunch then back to river. Made 2 more tries for bats in culvert & got 47+19 Carolia discarded Many- the net was better set this time. Then set 5 nets in nice second growth (tall) along stream across Pan Am from the dirt rd. On other side of stream up steep bank, was what looked to be real forest. Nets set 11 & I to stream. Asked back to Toron
