D.O. Strange 1978 116. 2 Aug cont'd. to dinner at "El Escorial" - good food, lots of beer & a color TV where we saw a replay of the Miss Universe Show. Home & to bed by 12. San Jose 3 Aug. up early & breakfast, then out to get things done. Got the permit settled at Ministeria de Agricultura - Avenida 1, calle 4. Will pick it up at 4 PM. Checked that our visas were OK, bought some maps, then back home. Out in PM to get permit, LP2, and formalinata farmacia near the mercado. Dinner at MacDonalds. Back to Costa Rican Sun where we had some drinks with the lot of US expatriots living there - an old couple, a worldly sort with equal wife, and a dippy woman. A strange ambiance here quite different from the Tala. To bed by 11. 4 Aug. San Jose to Canas, Guanacaste Provi. Up for breakfast at 7, then got car at the Tala, packed up and out of city (at last!) by 10. Took Hwy 3 to past San Ramon where it becomes Hwy 1.
