Staney 1977 113 20 Dec, contd. and went out of town and CO-ed the bats. Returned to the hotel & had a hot shower and a tasty meal. The people here appear to be Basques then pickled beats. Had a slight bout of diarrhea & spent the nite with terrible indigestion, probably from the grease the Milenca was cooked in. To bed ~ 12:30. 21 Dec. Huaquapan de Leon, Oax., to Mexico, D.F. Up at 8:15 and packed the car, bought some cokes and on the rd. to Mexico. The habitat here is terrible - deserted hills in very dry veg - no streams w/ water of note. Lunch in Iztacan de Matamoros at the very nice Hotel Colon on the N side of town. Stopped near Puebla to catch fish for the Noctillis we are keeping alive. Reached the airport in Mexico at 5 and reconformed our reservations. Then a room at the Hotel Aguacaliente and dinner at Vips. Spent ~ 4 hrs. packing - everything actually fits - and feeding Noctillis. To bed by 12:00. 22 Dec. Mexico, D.F. to Berkeley. Up at 6:30 and packed the car in the cold. To the airport by 8:15 and turned in the VW - $8200 / 2wks med. insurance. Waited a while
