D.O. Straney 1977 16 Dec, cont'd. nets. Candelia & Stunnina early. Uroderna and scattered after the 1st 45 min. I got bit by a nasty Uroderna, Sam by a Stunnina. Nets down by 9:30 after activity tapered off. Camped at the river at Km 214, with a late snack. To bed by 11. 17 Dec, cont'd. Km 212-214, Hwy 200, this. to Tonalá, this. Up by 7 and washed some clothes while Sam mended his boots. Drove to Mapastepec, arriving ~10 for brunch at a restaurant on 200. Then bought food in town and searched for Jerry Johnson's road to a Noetillo site. Went out one which crossed a small river. Stopped there and processed lots 'till about 2:30 then drove out to the end of the rd (~10 km). Here some people showed us to the Rio San Nicholas, much too wide & open to net. Spent a few minutes talking and agreed to take one of them in to Mapastepec. On the way (3.4 Km SE Mapastepec) he showed us a hollow tree w/ Saccopyrx. Got 9. Into town ~4:45 then drove up 200 looking for a place to net. Finally found one w/ 1/2 hr of light left, along a tributary of the large river in Puj Japan (see map).
