D.O. Shaney 1977. 108. 15 Dec, cont'd. quats out of the air. This problem went away shortly, as the activity dropped markedly. Caught carollia in all nets. Took sturinia in the nets away from the culvert and the 2 arifeus in the net in the denseseed area. In all got: 25 carollia, 7 sturinia, 1 artibeus lituratus and 1 A. tolkeus. Took down nets at 8 as things were really slow & returned to the Motel. I processed bats while Sam had cleaner, then relished the first hot shower in a week before going to bed by 11:30. 16 Dec. Tapachula, Chis.. to KM 212-214 Hwy 200, Chis. Up late by 9:15. Paid the bill ($4.37) then bought some food and looked for a restaurant. Finally went to the hamburger place but they had nothing to eat so had cokes. Drove to Huayla & had lunch at a cafe next to the gas station then out to the forest at KM 211.5-213 on Pte. 200. Also checked out a river at KM 214 which is no good for netting but fine for camping. The forest looks excellent and on the S side of the rd there is a small, winding stream with many palm-like plants. Set 6 nets in here along the river, one on a flat above an S in the river.
